Men's and Women's Swimming Teams Sweep JMU

The Lady Pirates (2-1) won all 13 events and took the top three spots in the 200 IM, 50 free, 200 fly, one-meter dive. Senior Carrie Wright took first in the one- and three-meter dive. Sophomore Diane Parker took first place in both the 100 free (52.71) and 200 IM (2:06.90) and sophomore Lara Fuller earned first in the 200 free (1:57.26) and the 500 free (5:13.21).
Four freshman took first place finishes, Courtney Kos in the 100 free (10:36.95), Adrienne Williams in the 50 free (24.62), Holly Williams in the 200 fly (2:05.16) and Meredith Lindgren in the 200 breast (2:21.34). Sophomore Martha Snead earned first place in the 100 backstroke (1:00.37).
The team of Martha Snead, Meredith Lindgren, Diane Parker and Adrienne Williams took first place in the 200 medley relay (1:48.56). Snead and Williams also combined with Courtney Felker and Sarah Hunt to take first in the 200 free relay (1:39.46).
The men (2-1) combined to win 10 out of the 13 events. Sophomore Robbie Derr took first in the one- and three-meter dives. Junior Matt Walker earned first in the 200 free (1:42.12) and the 100 free (46.62). Sophmore Casey Cronin placed first in the 200 IM (1:54.81) and 200 breast (2:08.61).
The four other first-place finishes came from freshman Jonathan Keefe in the 50 free (21.79), sophomore Andrew Dragunas in the 200 fly (1:53.87), junior Dean Cheek in the 500 free (4:44.90) and the 200 free relay team of Kelly Hendrick, Keefe, Tyler Devinney, and Gavin Stark (1:26.43).
"We swam extremely fast," said Head Coach Rick Kobe after today's victory. "I am very pleased with everyone's performances. We trained really hard this week and didn't really do any resting for this meet. We wanted to swim fast, but without stopping our training. We dominated a very good JMU team."
