Bill Carson Named Mondo/USTCA Regional Coach-of-the-Year
05/28/2002
Greenville, N.C. -- East Carolina men's head track coach Bill Carson was named the Southeast Region Coach-of-the-Year by the United States Track Coaches Association. The 2001-2002 track season has been one of ECU's finest, seeing the Pirates compete in the indoor and outdoor NCAA Championships.
Carson is now eligible for selection for the Mondo/USTCA National Coach-of-the-Year, which will be voted on at the conclusion of this week's NCAA Championships at LSU in Baton Rouge, La. Both the regional and national awards are voted on by collegiate track and field coaches around the nation.
This is Carson's second coaching honor of his career. In 1988 he was named the NCAA District III Coach-of-the-Year.
Carson is in his 35th year as head coach of the Pirates. This is the 26th consecutive year he has taken the men's track team to the NCAA Championships.
