Pirates Complete Day One of C-USA Track Championships

Louisville, Ky. -- At the completion of the first day of the Conference USA Track and Field Championships, the East Carolina women are currently tied for sixth place, while the men's team is in tenth.
The Pirates competed in only four events today, the men's and women's hammer and the men's and women's 10,000 meter run.
In women's action, senior Margaret Clayton finished seventh in the hammer throw with her mark of 159 feet, eleven inches. Sophomore Johanna Allen finished in 37:14.85 to claim eighth place in the 10,000 meter run.
For the men's team, junior De'Von Carter finished eighth in the hammer throw with a toss of 158 feet. Freshman Matt Hanlon ran a season's best 34:12.92 in the 10,000 meter run for the Pirates.
