ECU Women's Soccer Wins Regular Season Opener

The first goal came within four minutes of the game for the Pirates, by Amanda Duffy, who also finished with an assist. After a tie at halftime the Pirates took the lead with a clutch goal by Sarah Stoltz. Meghan McCallion put in the last of three goals for ECU, along with two assists.
Offensively the Pirates outshot the Panthers 13-8, and defensively goalkeeper Lauren Church made four saves.
"The rain made it a whole different ball game, where if you tried to posses the ball it was going in the other direction and stopping in puddles," said head coach Rob Donnenwirth. "The Conditions made it hard, but we had great play from our forwards, they are both dangerous players, McCallion and Duffy."
ECU will return to action this Sunday at home against Kent State at 1 p.m.
