ECU Women's Soccer Wins Second Straight at Home

Freshman Meghan McCallion scored an early goal for the Pirates (2-0), her second in two games. Her shot came just 57 seconds into the game and gave the Pirates a 1-0 lead. Senior Sarah Stoltz added a goal at the 34 minute mark and the Pirates led 2-0 at halftime.
With only two minutes down in the second half Lauren Covay put one in, giving the Golden Flash momentum, but the Pirates came back to score one more, by Kristin Hoyle at 84:51. The Flash (0-2) outshot the Pirates 22-13.
Rob Donnenworth commented on the defense: "You have to give the back credit for being pretty relentless. Freshman Lauren Church made some key saves, at key times, with a total of nine saves, which is pretty good.
Up next the Pirates embark on a six game road trip. They return home to host South Florida in a Conference USA match on September 27 at 4 p.m.
