
Indoor Track Performs Well at Virginia Tech

For the Lady Pirates, Shirena James took 15th place in the 60-meter dash (7.85). In the 200-meter dash the Pirates secured four spots in the top 75. Terri Davenport took 24th place (25.23), Star Coppin placed 32nd (25.63), Demiko Picott took 44th place (26.28) and Kelsey Walker took the 63rd spot (27.41).
Caitlin Littlefield placed 42nd in the one mile run (5:26.10) and Kimberly Lash earned the 44th spot (5:29.75). Lauren Miller took the 24th spot in the 600-meter run (1:47.47). Jessica Collins earned the 19th spot in the 1000-meter run (3:07.55) and Littlefield took the 20th spot (3:07.89). Kelli Litten took the 25th spot in the 3000-meter run (10:37.28).
The 4x400 meter relay team took the 10th spot (3:58.75) and the distance medley took the sixth spot (11:58.54). In the pole vault Nicole Marchewka placed 15th (3.10m) and Tammie Mentzel took the 23rd spot (2.95m).
For the Pirate men, Jeremy Carter earned the fourth spot in the 60 meter dash (6.70) and the 200 meter dash (21.63), as well as placing 12th in the 60 meter hurdles (8.24).
Reggie Williams earned the 14th spot in the 60-meter dash (7.03) and took 15th in the 200-meter dash (22.14). Jeff Walls placed 13th in the 60-meter dash (7.03) and took the 15th spot in the 200-meter dash (22.14).
BJ Henderson won the 400-meter dash (47.56). Darrus Cofield took 6th place (48.25) and Domonick Richmond earned the 7th place (48.26).
In the one mile race Kristian Jorgensen took the 24th place (4:28.12) and 13th in the 1000 meter run (2:34.21). Vance Stephenson took the 17th spot in the 600-meter run (1:23.19). Kyle MacKenzie earned the eight spot in the 3000-meter run (8:34.03).
The 4x400 men's medley team took the third spot (3:13.13).
The Lady Pirates return to action January 25 at the Maryland Elite Invitational and the men head to New York for the New York Elite College Invitational on January 24.
