
Women's Soccer Defeats Louisville 2-0

LOUISVILLE, KY. -- The East Carolina women's soccer team moved one step closer to gaining a postseason bid after defeating Louisville 2-0 on Friday night at Cardinal Park.
Krystel Pabey set up a pair of goals for the Pirates (7-5-5, 3-2-3) in the first half as the Pirates cruised to it seventh win of the season.
Freshman Rachel Hils got the scoring going in the 35th minute of play when she received a throw in from Paybey and placed a perfect ball in the left corner of the net. It was Hils second goal of the season.
Just 15 minutes later, ECU got its last goal when Pabey and senior Penny Perrott connected on a series of passes that found Melissa Penney open for her fourth goal of the season.
ECU's goalkeeper Lindsi Troxler picked up her fifth win of the season and collected her fourth shut out. Louisville (6-8-2, 1-6-1 C-USA) was out shot 12-4 by ECU in the match.
"We played a great game tonight," said ECU head coach Rob Donnenwirth. "This was a big win against a great team and I hope that we can build off of that when we play Cincinnati on Sunday. I was pleased with the effort that Krystel gave us tonight."
The Pirates will be back in action on Sunday, when they face Cincinnati in another crucial conference game at 1 p.m.
