
Lady Pirates Soccer Falls to Cincinnati 2-1

CINCINNATI, OHIO -- The East Carolina women's soccer team dropped its third conference game of the season Sunday afternoon falling to Cincinnati, 2-1, at Meyers Field.
The Pirates (7-6-5, 3-3-3) struggled offensively in the first half, firing 10 shots and coming up empty handed. While the Bearcats', (5-12-1, 3-6-0) were able to connect on one goal in the 12th minute of play, when Becky Imhoff found Rachel Lieberman for her first goal of the season.
Cincinnati would tack on another goal early in the second period when Lieberman found Tasha Wagner wide open on a break away in the 57th minute.
ECU would answer with its lone goal of the match just 34 seconds later when Melissa Penney found Carmen Calpo atop the box for her second goal of the season. It was Penney's fourth assist on the season.
Sophomore goalkeeper Lindsi Troxler collected 11 saves on the afternoon. The Pirates out shot the Bearcats' 22-18 on the match.
ECU will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 31 when they play host to instate rival Charlotte in the regular season finale at Bunting Field. The match, designated as senior day, is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
