Weekend Softball Washed Out at Triangle Classic

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The 2003 Triangle Classic games scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15 and Sunday, Feb. 16 have been cancelled, according to an announcement made Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

East Carolina was scheduled to play Temple on Saturday and at least one other game on Sunday in the 25-team softball tournament, but wet field conditions and rain in the area forced the cancellation of the event.

The Pirates split their two games on Friday, the opening day of play at the Triangle Classic, as they defeated Radford, 8-2, and lost to Michigan State, 1-0.

ECU will return to action with its own tournament next weekend, the Hampton Inn Pirate Classic. The Pirates will open play on Friday, Feb. 21, against Fordham at 11 a.m.
