Women's Soccer Kicks in Spring Season

The Pirates hosted their first opponent, Barton, this past Friday, March 28, and posted a 4-1 victory. Meghan McCallion (Bay Shore, N.Y.) scored the first goal for the Pirates with an assist from Mindy Nixon (Virginia Beach, Va.). The next two goals came from Rachelle Cabeceiras (Cary, N.C.), with an assist from McCallion and Tracy FitzGerald (Fairfax Station, Va.). Defender Penny Perrott (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) made an unassisted final shot for the team off a free kick.
"I'm happy with how our first game went," said Coach Rob Donnenwirth. "The way we played gave us the opportunity to play a lot of players that perhaps didn't get a lot of time during the season."
The spring schedule continues this Saturday, April 5, when the Pirates host Francis Marion at 3pm.
