
Track Takes Four First-Place Finishes

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- East Carolina's track team competed today at the USTCA Collegiate Challenge hosted by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The Lady Pirates reached two NCAA regional qualifying times and had four first-place finishes.
Senior Kay Livick set a new ECU record in the 1500-meter run (4:29.88) and earned an NCAA regional qualifying time. Terri Davenport won the 200m, broke her own existing school record and earned an NCAA regional qualifying time (23.99).
Shirena James won the 100m (12.17) and Demiko Picott came in third (12.42). Kelli Litten won the steeplechase (11:16.26).
In the field events Krystel Pabey won the javelin throw (41.23m). Jennifer Aull threw a personal-best 45.29m which ranks fourth on the ECU all-time list.
"It was perfect weather today," said Head Coach Matt Munson. "It was great to get outside after a week of rain."
Ronnie Pollard was among the men at Charlotte today and he earned fourth in the 20m (22.13). Pollard also placed third in the 400m hurdles (52.94) and Pat Martin placed fourth (53.53).
In field events Renaldo Isaac earned fifth in the long jump (7.14m). De'Von Carter placed second in the hammer throw (52.84) and Mayso Porch finished fifth in the hammer (47.16).
Other members of the men's team were finishing the second day of the Sea Ray Relays hosted by the University of Tennessee today. The 4x100 team placed third (40.58) and the 4x400 team earned fifth place (3:11.27).
