April 06, 2003 | Women's Golf
East Carolina and Oklahoma State both finished in a tie for eighth place, with matching scores of 904. The Pirates shot 298 in the first round and 303 in both the second and third rounds. Oklahoma State, the number three team in the nation, shot 300 in rounds one and two, and a 304 in round three.
"I am proud of our solid performance this weekend," said ECU head coach Kevin Williams. "We secured quality wins over two of the top 25 teams in the country and fell one stroke short of tying Vanderbilt University, the number eight team in the nation."
Adrienne Millican finished in a tie for 17th place, finishing the tournament at 223. Heidi Helliesen finished with a three-day total of 227, which tied her for 30th.
"Adrienne played a solid tournament and Heidi came on strong for us over the weekend," said Williams.
The women will return to action in two weeks when they travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. to compete in the Conference USA Championships. That tournament will be held April 21-23.
