
Track Brings Home Six Individual Victories

FAIRFAX, Va. -- The East Carolina men's and women's track teams competed Saturday in the Patriot Open, hosted by George Mason University. The meet played host to 14 schools and was held at the George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Va. The Lady Pirates set a new varsity record and took three victories in today's races.
Senior Kelli Litten crushed the 3,000-meter steeplechase record and took first place in the event (10:55.80). Krystel Pabey won the javelin, throwing 39.15 meters. Star Coppin brought home the third victory for the Pirates, jumping 11.82m in the triple jump.
Shirena James placed fourth in the 100-meter dash (12.01). Terri Davenport placed third in the 400m (56.27) and Aspen Powell ran a season-best 58.44 in the event.
The men produced three race victories and four individuals ran season's best during today's races. Darrus Cofield won the 400m running a season best 46.70 in the event. Domonick Richmond took second in the event (46.92).
Jeremy Carter ran a season best, taking first place in the 200-meter dash (21.26) and Reggie Williams earned third in the event (21.67). Carter also placed third in the 100m (10.61) and Williams followed in fourth (10.81).
Ricardo Bell ran a season best in the 800m, taking sixth place (1:51.02). In the hurdles Pat Martin ran a season's best 52.26, putting him in third place. Ronnie Pollard placed sixth (53.31). The 4x100 team won their race in 40.41.
The Pirates return to action May 15-17, when they compete in the Conference USA Championships in Charlotte, N.C.
