July 17, 2003 | Soccer
The latest addition brings the total number of new players for ECU to 10.
Sherard, a transfer foward from the University of Iowa, will be entering her junior year at East Carolina. As a freshman at Iowa, she played in 17 games with two starts collecting one goal against Michigan State and one assist versus Notre Dame.
"Rennice adds a breakaway threat at the forward position," said ECU head coach Rob Donnenwirth. "She has tremendous speed and experience at the college level."
At Madison Central High School, Rennice was a four-time first team all-state selection, three-time team offensive MVP (1998-2001) and an all-star her senior season. She helped led Madison Central to two conference championships (1999 and 2001) and the state championship in 2000, while becoming the school's record holder for career goals with 112.
As a member of the track team, she was named all-state her junior and senior seasons and holds state records in the 4x100 and 100M.
The Lady Pirates will open its 2003 season against the University of Texas on August 19 in Raleigh, N.C., at SAS Stadium, home of the WUSA's Carolina Courage.
