GREENVILLE, N.C. -- The East Carolina women's soccer team was one of 290 NCAA women's soccer programs to be awarded the 2004 College Women's Team Academic Award by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
To receive the prestigious Team Academic Award, the program must have posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2003-04 academic year. This is the fourth time in the last seven years that the women's soccer program has received this prestigious award.
"We set academic, athletic and community service goals every year," said Head Coach Rob Donnenwirth. "This award is one of our academic goals that we strive to achieve. I am proud of our team's commitment to being student-athletes."
The Pirates (8-9-2) finished the 2004 season winning five of their last six games, with their loss coming at the 2004 Conference USA Tournament in Louisville, KY to Saint Louis, 2-1.
