
ECU Softball To Compete In Dixie Classic

The Pirates have won six consecutive games entering the Dixie Classic, posting a 6-0 record this past weekend at the Hampton Inn/Pirate Classic. Through the first nine games of the season, ECU is hitting .335 as team with seven players eclipsing the .315 mark. Junior Kate Manuse leads the squad with a .500 batting average, while preseason first team All-Conference USA selection Christine Sheridan is batting .480.
Junior pitcher Maggie Lingo has yet to allow an earned run in 14 innings of work and boasts a 2-0 record with one save. Sophomore Brentley Bridgeforth is 4-0 on the year with a 0.60 ERA, while freshman Keli Harrell has fanned 21 batters in 20.2 innings pitched.
In six games at the Hampton Inn/Pirate Classic this past weekend, ECU scored a total of 32 runs and limited its opponents to a mere 10 runs. Sheridan drove in 10 runs during the six games.
