
Softball Splits Twinbill With DePaul

ECU Freshman Keli Harrell recorded her 10th win of the season with a complete game, shutout win over the Blue Demons in game one. She limited DePaul to just three hits, while striking out 10.
The Pirates' offense was highlighted by Kate Manuse's sixth inning home run to left field, her fifth of the season. Manuse finished the game 2-3 with two RBIs.
ECU's other four runs came in the first inning that took place yesterday prior to the rain suspension. After singles from Lacassa Hill and Christine Sheridan, Manuse hit a single of her own to drive in Hill. Sheridan scored on a wild pitch, and both Manuse and Mandi Nichols reached home on a DePaul error.
In game two, DePaul (10-14, 5-1) collected 13 hits to knock off the Pirates. The Blue Demons took an early lead scoring three runs in the second inning and one in the fourth. DePaul plated six more runs came in the top of the seventh on six hits.
The Pirates only run came in the sixth inning on an RBI-single from Mandi Nichols.
Sarah Martz limited the Pirates to just three hits and didn't yield a hit until the sixth inning as he carried a no-hitter through 5.1 innings. She finished the game with eight strikeouts against two base on balls.
East Carolina will be in action April 3rd when they travel to Kentucky for a Conference USA doubleheader against Louisville starting at 1 p.m.
