
Ricardo Bell Claims 800 Meter Title At C-USA Championships

LOUISVILLE, KY -- Senior East Carolina distance runner Ricardo Bell captured the 800 meter title at the 2004 Conference USA Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Louisville's Cardinal Park. His time of 1:51.55 was almost one full second faster than the second place finisher. Bell also took home all conference honors for his performance.
Sophomore Hector Cotto recorded a third place finish in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.18. His time earned him all conference honors and also qualified him for the NCAA regionals. The Pirates 4x400 relay team also took home third place honors with a time of 3:11.53.
Damarcus Fox finished tenth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.73. In the 400 meters, Darrus Cofiled (49.00) and B.J. Henderson (49.34) finished eighth and ninth. Junior Ronnie Pollard finished sixth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 53.66 and earned three points for the Pirates in the team competition.
The Cincinnati Bearcats took home the 2004 C-USA team title with 159.50 points. Houston finished second with 120 followed by TCU at 117. ECU finished in tenth with 33 points.
