Known for his tremendous ability to produce top-notch sprinters year after year, Carson has helped develop such world-class athletes as Maurice Greene and Olympian Lee McNeil. A well-respected coach internationally, he has spent the past 37 years as the head coach at East Carolina, producing nearly 70 All-America athletes.
A former IC4A president, Carson was the head coach of the South team at the 1993 United States Olympic Festival, and served as the Broad Event Chairman for Sprint Development for USA Track & Field from 1991-97. He also served as the sprint coach of the South team at the 1990 U.S. Olympic Festival.
The IAAF Junior World Championships will be held in Grosetto, Italy, July 13-18.
