
Softball Improves To 4-0 With Two Wins Saturday

Sophomore Keli Harrell (2-0) tossed a complete-game one-hit shutout against Tennessee Tech to earn her second win of the year. Harrell has not allowed a run in 17 innings pitched this season and has struck out 32.
After going three up three down in the top of first, senior Mandi Nichols led off the second inning with a solo home run to jump-start the Pirates' offense.
Centerfielder Shirley Burleson secured an East Carolina victory with a two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Burleson led East Carolina going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Against Charleston Southern, East Carolina scored 10 runs on 11 hits and hit three homeruns in five innings to win game two of the doubleheader.
Junior Allison Monce hit two home runs and drove in three to lead the Pirates. Ashley Quick and Krista Jessup also collected two hits each. Stephanie Hayes picked up her first win of the season, tossing five innings and striking out three.
East Carolina returns to action Sunday morning at 10 a.m. against Georgia State.
