Reason I chose the Pirates:
"The first reason I was interested in ECU was because of the coaching staff. When I found out ECU had a medical program and I saw their impressive athletic facility, I fell in love with the school as well. I made my final decision when I met the girls and saw how nice they were. I knew ECU was the school for me."
Coach Donnenwirth's Comments:
"Nicole is a tough competitor. She is very versatile and can play centrally or out wide in the back or midfield. She has a great attitude. Whether it is soccer or academics she will work extremely hard to be the best in her endeavors."
Amber Campbell (Frederick, Md.)
Amber was a two-time member of the Maryland Olympic Development Program. She plays club soccer for the Bethesda Eclipse coached by Brad Roos. The Eclipse have been consistently ranked in the top 15 in the nation and won five straight Maryland State Championships (2000-04). They were Region I semi finalists in 2000 and 2003 and finalists in 2004. In 2002, her team won the Region I Championship and was USYSA National Finalists. The Eclipse have won six major tournament championships and placed in the finals or semi-finals four times. Amber played at Frederick High School Coached by Jim Beck. Reason I chose the Pirates:
"I chose ECU because I wanted to compete at the Division I level, within a nationally competitive conference (Conference USA), and have a chance to help the team make the NCAA Championships."
Coach Donnenwirth's Comments:
"Amber is a very athletic goalkeeper with the ability to make the big save. She is very good in the air and very good with her feet as well. Her experiences with the Eclipse have prepared her for the collegiate level."
Madison Keller (Clarksburg, Md.)
Madison has been the starting center midfielder for the Bethesda Eclipse, coached by Brad Roos, for the last five seasons. The Eclipse have been consistently ranked in the top 15 in the nation and won five straight Maryland State Championships (2000-04). They were Region I semi- finalists in 2000 and 2003 and finalists in 2004. In 2002, her team won the Region I Championship and was USYSA National Finalists. The Eclipse have won six major tournament championships and placed in the finals or semi-finals four times. Madison was a four-year starter at St. John's at Prospect Hall High School coached by Sheldon Henry and was also named captain her senior year. She was the all-time leading goal-scorer at St. John's and was named IAAM first-team All-Conference (03, 04) and Frederick County first-team (03,04). She is a National Honor Society Member her junior and senior year, received Headmasters Honors all four years, and was an honorable mention Maryland Distinguished Scholar.
Reason I chose the Pirates:
"Coach Rob seems like a great guy and I can't wait to play for him and the program! Aside from soccer, ECU has exactly what I'm looking for academically."
Coach Donnenwirth's Comments:
"Madison is a very talented midfielder. She is a very good possession player and has a cannon shot that makes her dangerous joining the attack. Her height will help us tremendously in the air."
Sarah Biggar (Coral Springs, Fla.)
Sarah was the captain of J.P. Taravella High School coached by Kim Chamberlin. She was a three sport athlete (soccer, track and volleyball) and was voted most athletic in her school. Sarah played club soccer and was the captain for the Coral Springs Renegades coached by Mike Turcotte. Her team finished in first place at the Atlanta Cup and also competed in the Raleigh Shootout and Orange Classic. An honor roll student, Sarah was the treasurer of the senior class, editor of the yearbook, and received the American Legion Citizenship Award.
Reason I chose the Pirates:
"ECU gives me the chance to compete at the Division I level with a successful soccer program and a proven coach. Academically, ECU has a low student to teacher ratio with actual professors teaching. I also feel the size of the school is appropriate for my expectations of college life."
Coach Donnenwirth's Comments:
"Sarah's best attributes are her speed and versatility. Her athleticism allows her to play many different positions. I was also impressed with her leadership on the field. "
Kelley Hennessy (Charlotte, N.C.)
Kelley has been a member of the Charlotte Soccer Club, coached by Sean Bubb, since 1998. Her team were North Carolina State Cup Finalists (99, 04) and semi-finalists (00, 01, 02, 03) while winning five tournament championships. Her team won the North Carolina 2A State Championship in 2003 and advanced to the semi-finals in 2004. Her 2003 team went undefeated and allowed only four goals in 23 games. She was named North Carolina All-Region, Rocky River All-Conference and MVP of the Frank Ponce Tournament. An honor roll student, Kelley was named Who's Who Among American High School Students in 9th through 12th grade.
Reason I chose the Pirates:
"ECU has a great Exercise Science program and provides me the opportunity to play Division I Soccer."
Coach Donnenwirth's Comments:
"Kelley is a tenacious 1v1 defender and is a great ball-winner. Her experience with the Charlotte Soccer Club should prepare her for the college game."
Stephanie Rogers (Little Rock, Ark.)
Stephanie Participated in the North Carolina Olympic Development Program in 1999-2000 before moving to Arkansas where she competed for the Arkansas ODP in 2001. She is the captain for the Little Rock Futbol Club coached by Keith McPherson. Her team won the Arkansas State Championship the last five seasons. Stephanie is also the captain for Little Rock Central High School, which is also coached by McPherson. The team won two State Championships and Stephanie was named All-Conference in 2003 and All-State in 2004. She is also a member of the Beta Club and the National Honors Society.
Reason I chose the Pirates:
"I chose ECU because I love living in North Carolina. ECU seems like a great place to play soccer and go to school."
Coach Donnenwirth's Comments:
"Stephanie is a very good defensive center-mid due to her ability in the air and her composure on the ball. I was impressed with her play when she lived in North Carolina and we are happy to bring her back to the state."
