HARRISBURG, Va. - The East Carolina women's soccer team dropped its second match of the season Sunday afternoon as they fell to former Colonial Athletic Association foe Richmond 3-0 in the James Madison Tournamnet held at the JMU Soccer Complex.
The Pirates (0-2) were unable to stop the Spiders (1-1) offense as they were out-shot by a 21-3 margin, including 10-1 in the first half.
ECU senior Meghan McCallion (Long Island, N.Y.) and juniors Allison Howell (Advance, N.C.) and Tara Shaw (Malvern, Pa.) each recorded one shot for the Pirates on the day.
Richmond's Christine Wrublesky scored the games first goal, her second-career goal, during the 22nd minute of play blasting an unassisted shot from 20 yards for what proved to be the game-winner.
Just 4:20 into the second half, Ali LeVine scored her second goal of the year, also unassisted, from eight yards for a 2-0 advantage. Jessie Wolfe finished the scoring in the 66th minute when she took a pass from freshman Susan Boyer and beat the keeper from seven yards out.
ECU's Amber Campbell (Frederick, Md.) notched her second career start in the goal, playing 90 minutes and recording six saves.
A trio of freshman, Stephanie Rogers (Little Rock, Ark.), Kristen Allred (High Point, N.C.) and Taylor Bell (Wilmington, N.C.), saw action in their first collegiate game om a Pirate uniform.
Howell and freshman midfielder Madison Keller (Clarksburg, Md.) were both named to the James Madison All-Tournament Team for the Pirates.
The Pirates will be back in action on Friday Sept. 2 when they travel to in-state rival UNC Wilmington for a 7 p.m. tilt.
