GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's soccer team will hit the road Friday, Sept. 2 when they square off against in-state rival UNC Wilmington at 7 p.m. in Wilmington, N.C.
The Pirates (0-2-0) will look to get back in the win column and snap a three game loosing streak, which dates back to last season. In the season opener, ECU fell to Loyola, 4-2, and then dropped the final game of the JUM/ Comfort Inn Invitational 3-0 to Richmond.
Senior Meghan McCallion (Long Island, N.Y.) inched closer to becoming ECU's all-time scoring leader when she netted her first goal of the season against Loyola. Fellow senior Ashley Stopa (Park Ridge, Ill) also scored against Loyola collecting her first career goal.
The Seahawks split their opening weekend, losing at No. 21 Wake Forest, 4-1, and defeating Appalachian State at home, 3-0.
Sophomore Jenny Cauble leads the team with two goals on six shots, which includes one penalty kick. Christine York has made two starts in goal for UNCW allowing four goals on 18 shots faced.
The Pirates will return home Sunday, Sept. 4 for their season debut at Bunting Field when they host instate foe Western Carolina at 1 p.m.
