
Lady Pirate Soccer Heads To Big 12 Country This Weekend

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's soccer team will once again hit the road this weekend whey they square off against national powers Texas A&M Friday, Sept. 9 at 8 p.m. and Oklahoma Sunday, Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. of the Big 12 Conference.
In the Pirates (1-3) last meeting, senior Melissa Penney (Damascus, Md.) notched a pair of goals to help ECU to its first win of the season, 2-0 over Western Carolina. ECU was in control of the match from the outset allowing no shots in the first period and only three in the entire match.
Freshman keeper Amber Campbell (Frederick, Md.) got her fourth start and posted her first collegiate win and shutout of her career.
First up for the Pirates are the nationally ranked Aggies, who post a 2-1-1 record on the season. A&M is lead by sophomore forward Ashlee Pistorius, who has four goals, nine points and two game-winning goals in four games. Fellow sophomore Melissa Garey is second on the team with three goals and seven points.
In last weekends action, the Aggies fell to Michigan State in overtime 1-0 and took Michigan to a tie in two overtimes, 1-1. Pistorius had recorded five shots, two on goal and netted A&M's only goal of the match.
Oklahoma (3-1) split a pair of road games last weekend, losing to Wisconsin, 2-0, and defeating Iowa, 2-0. The Sooners are led by sophomore Allyson Kucera who has two goals and four points on the season. Sophomore keeper Jennifer Nichols has allowed three goals and is sporting a 0.73 goals against average and has an 86.4 save percentage.
