DALLAS, TEXAS - After an exhilarating win in Tulsa against the Golden Hurricane, the East Carolina women's soccer team was unable to generate any offense in a 1-0 defeat to #22 SMU. Olivia O'Rear's goal in the 37th minute of play was all the Mustangs would need to win their 11th game in a row.
"To beat a team like SMU, you have to play your best game," said head coach Rob Donnenwirth. "Today was not our best performance."
East Carolina was out-shot 14-4 and SMU goalkeeper Ashley Gunter only had to make one save to preserve SMU's 11th shutout of the season. The Pirates will play their final two games of the season in Greenville at Bunting Field on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
