Track and Field Enjoys Successful Weekend in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb.-- Lindsay Dolan's school record setting mark in the 60 meter hurdles and Eric Frasure's NCAA provisional mark in the weight throw set the pace for the East Carolina track and field squads this weekend as they competed in the Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
For the women, Dolan's time of 8.76 in the preliminary round of the 60 meter hurdles set a new East Carolina record, breaking the previous mark of 8.79 set in 2005. Following her into the semifinals was Lainaire Lindo, who advanced with a time of 9.14. Dolan moved on to the finals, where she posted an 8th place finish with a time of 8.90. The East Carolina 4x400 relay team, comprised of Chante Sessoms, Shalice Anderson, Aisha Bilal-Mack and Camelia Morman, took home 8th place with a time of 3:55.48. The Lady Pirates saw two athletes place in the top ten in the long jump as Sessoms took 5th place (5.60m) and Morman finished 9th (5.46m).
As for the men, Frasure's 3rd place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 20.85m provisionally qualified him for the NCAA indoor championships. Terrance Myers also finished in the top ten in the weight throw, coming in 6th with a mark of 19.12m. Adian Sanderson and David Rucker both qualified for the semifinals of the 60 meter dash, but came in 10th and 14th, respectively in the semifinal heat. Brandon Small posted the best time in the 400 meter dash preliminaries with a time of 47.54, and took home 2nd place with a final mark of 47.49. In the distance events, Matt Dennish finshed 8th in the mile run with a time of 4:11.83 while William Collins' time of 8:36.70 earned him 5th place honors in the 3000 meter run. The 4x400 squad (Chris Richardson, Kevin Thompson, Ron Wright and Brandon Small) finished 10th with a mark of 3:21.89.
East Carolina returns to action next weekend when the squads travel to State College, Penn. to compete in the Penn Relays Feb. 9-10.
