
Track and Field Competes in Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The East Carolina University track and field teams competed in the Florida Relays on the campus of the University of Florida this weekend. The Pirates collected 16 top ten finishes, and seven top fives.
In the men's competition, Terrance Myers took home the Pirates only win of the weekend, as he won the hammer throw with a mark of 60.97. Eric Frasure's mark of 58.47 was good enough for 3rd. Akintunde Abisogun finished 13th in the long jump (5.56), while Barrick Spencer took home 7th in the javelin (53.02) to round out the field events. On the track side, the Pirates recorded three top 15 finishes in the 100 meter dash, with Aidan Sanderson coming in 6th (10.59), Anthony Green in 10th (10.67), and Kevin Thompson in 12th (10.73). Thompson collected another top 15 finish with 10th place honors in the 200 meter dash (21.73). Brandon Small came in 11th in the 400 meter dash (47.60), while Christopher Richardon finished 13th (48.31). In the relay events, the Pirates brought home two top five finishes, with a 3rd place mark in the 4x100 relay (40.35), and a 5th place finish in the 4x200 (1:25.99).
In the women's competition, Chelsea Salisbury recorded the Pirates top finish with her 3rd place mark in the hammer throw event (55.17). Charlene Grady came in 8th (51.90) and Amy Mueller was 13th (44.36). Mueller followed up with a 9th place finish in the shot put (13.22) while Danielle Eiler was 10th (12.82). Eiler tallied another top ten finish in the discus event, coming in 6th (43.77). Amy Hart's mark of 3.65m earned her 4th place honors. Aisha Bilal-Mack took home 10th place honors in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.91.The 4x200 relay squad came in 16th with a time of 1:43.63.
ECU will split time between the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. and the North Carolina Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. this coming weekend, April 14-15.
