
Bools Takes Leads At UNCG-Starmount Classic

GREENSBORO, NC - Defending tournament champion East Carolina has a three-shot lead over tournament host UNC Greensboro after one round at the UNCG-Starmount Fall Classic women's golf tournament.
Paced by individual leader Abby Bools, the Pirates shot 295 as a team on Sunday to take the early lead. East Carolina's Ana Maria Puche is tied for second after shooting a 72, along with Georgia State's Anna Scott.
Bools recorded the only sub-par round of the afternoon on the 6,215-yard course. She had five birdies on the day, overcoming a bogey on her very first hole to go out in 35 and come back in 33.
UNCG is second at 298, followed by UNC Wilmington at 300, Georgia State one shot behind them and South Florida and East Tennessee State in a tie for fifth at 304.
ECU's Amy Otteson is tied for 17th after an opening round of 75, while Amber Littman and Colleen Estes are tied for 54th with rounds of 80.
The second round gets underway Monday morning with tee times at 8:30 am off of No. 1 and 8:45 am at No. 10.
