
Pirates In Second After 18 Holes

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's golf team carded an opening round 303 and currently sits in second place at the 2008 Lady Pirate Intercollegiate. The tournament is being played at the par-71, 5,939-yard Greenville Country Club.
Junior Abby Bools paced the Pirates play with an opening round 73, two-over par and sits one stroke off the tournament lead behind Belen Buendia (FIU). Also tied for second after 18-holes of play is Carly Hunt (Georgetown) and Blair Minter (Western Carolina).
ECU's Amber Littman is tied for 10th after carding a four-over par 75, while sophomore Colleen Estes holds a share of 20th with a six-over par 77. Ana Maria Puche (78) is tied for 31st and Amy Otteson (81) is tied for 55th rounding our ECU's team. Playing as individuals for the Pirates are Kristen Billings (78/t-31) and Julia Strandberg (83/t-70).
Georgia State leads the team portion of the event after posting a 299, the only team below 300. Sitting in a tie for third is Nebraska and Georgetown at 305 (21-over), while Miami (Fla.) rounds out the top-five with a 308 (24-over par).
Second round action is scheduled to get under way Monday morning at 8 a..m.
