
Bools Tied For First With 18 To Play

EL PASO, Texas - The Tulsa Golden Hurricane cut seven strokes off their first-round performance and registered a second-round 297 to move into the top spot after day two of the 2008 Texas Roadhouse Conference USA Women's Golf Championship at the par 72, 72, 6,294-yard Butterfield Trail Golf Club. Tulsa (601) moved up four spots during the round and holds a seven-stroke lead over second-place East Carolina (608) entering Wednesday's final round.
Carding just the second under-par performance of the event during day two, Tulsa junior Woori Shin sits in a tie atop the leaderboard after 36 holes. The transfer from Redlands Community College has a two-round total of 147 (+3) and is tied with East Carolina sophomore Abby Bools for individual honors.
Junior Rachel Larson of defending champion Memphis fired the day's other 71 (-1) and is tied for fourth place at 149 (+5). UAB freshman Jamie Brabb, the tri-leader after day one, shot a second-round 76 and is alone in third at 148 (+4).
UCF (617) is in third place, followed by SMU (618) and host UTEP (624).
Junior Mayule Tomimbang paced the Knights on day two, carding her second consecutive 77 for a two-round total of 154. Tomimbang is tied for 14th, while freshman Jessy Tang is tied for eighth place at 152.
SMU senior Lacey Jones also has a two-round total of 152 to lead the Mustangs, while senior Laura Cross had her team's best round of the day at 76 and sits tied for 19th with a 156.
The Miners' Deborah Martinez is tied for 14th with a 154. The sophomore fired a team-low 79 on day two.
UAB and Memphis are tied for sixth place (627), while Southern Miss (632), the leader after day one, dropped seven places to eighth. Marshall (654) sits in ninth to round out the field.
Final round action begins at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The top six teams will tee off at hole No. 1, while the bottom three teams will tee off at hole 10.
The winner of the C-USA Championship receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.
