
Barrick Earns National Academic Honor

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Spencer Barrick, a junior javelin thrower on the East Carolina men's track and field team, has been named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) Division I All-Academic Team, according to an announcement by the organization.
Barrick has earned Dean's List status for all four semesters he has attended ECU. The Point of Rocks, Md. Native is also a two-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and meet either the NCAA Division I Indoor/Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in his respective event. A record total of 266 student-athletes representing 111 Division I institutions made up the men's 2008 All-Academic Team.
