
Campbell Earns C-USA Weekly Honor

IRVING, Texas - Senior goalkeeper Amber Campbell has been selected as Conference USA's Defensive Player-of-the-Week, according to an announcement by the Dallas-based league Monday afternoon.
The Frederick, Md. native made 12 saves and posted a pair of shutouts in the opening weekend of conference play. She made seven stops Friday in a 2-0 win at Rice then tallied five saves Sunday at Houston in a 1-0 victory. Campbell has now registered five shutouts on the season and a school-record 26 for her career. The senior is first in C-USA in shutouts per game and tied for first in the conference in total shutouts. This is the second Player-of-the-Week honor for Campbell.
Lauren Shepherd of SMU and Shelley Wong of Rice shared this week's Offensive Player-of-the-Week accolade.
The Pirates remain on the road for their next match, continuing a four-game C-USA road trip Friday in Hattiesburg, Miss. against Southern Miss. The contest is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex.
