IRVING, Texas – For the third time this season, East Carolina redshirt sophomore Toni Paisley has been named the Conference USA Pitcher-of-the-Week, according to an announcement Tuesday by league officials. Paisley picked up three wins and 30 strikeouts last week while leading the Pirates to wins over Georgetown, Toledo and Southern Miss. The weekly honor is the fourth of Paisley’s career.
In the opening contest of the Pirate Clash last Tuesday against Georgetown, Paisley threw a perfect game. It was the first perfect game in Conference USA this season and just the eighth in all of Division I. She is the only active pitcher in the league to have tossed a perfect game in her career. Paisley is now tied for the most perfect games thrown in C-USA history with two. She also shut out Toledo in her other start at the Clash last Wednesday.
In the series with Southern Miss, she threw her second no-hitter of the week in the first game of the series. It was the fourth no-hitter of her career, which ties her for fourth on the Conference USA list.
She also contributed offensively with two hits, two runs batted in and one run scored.
ECU will return to action tomorrow for a single contest at N.C. State beginning at 6 p.m.
