
Eiler Earns C-USA Spirit Of Service Award

IRVING, Texas - East Carolina women's track and field athlete Danielle Eiler has been named one of 12 recipients of the inaugural Conference USA Spirit of Service award, according to an announcement by C-USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky Wednesday morning.
The C-USA Spirit of Service Award is designed to recognize the community service efforts of the league's student-athletes based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport. The Spirit of Service award will be presented three times throughout the season, with today's honorees representing Conference USA's winter sports: men's and women's basketball, indoor track & field, rifle and swimming.
Eiler has turned in more than 140 hours of community service at East Carolina. The Ingleside, Ill., native has dedicated her time to adoption agencies, elementary schools, the ALS Association, food banks, ECU Friends, and the Special Populations of Eastern North Carolina. The senior psychology major has also earned honor roll or Dean's List honors six of her seven semesters at ECU and holds the school record in the discus.
Eiler and her Pirate teammates are taking the next two weeks to prepare for participation in the 115th running of the Penn Relays. The meet is scheduled for April 23-25 at historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
