
ECU Hits The Road To Play Memphis

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's soccer team visits Conference USA foe Memphis in the first of four-straight league road matches starting tonight at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex. Game time is scheduled for8 p.m. (EST).
ECU (7-5-0, 2-2-0 C-USA) travels to the Bluff City after a split of its first four conference games. The Pirates were shutout by SMU last Friday in Cary, N.C. and bounced back on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over Tulsa. Two of ECU's three road wins have come in the last two minutes of regulation play. At Old Dominion, Chrissy Gratz struck with a goal at 88:36 to give the Pirates the victory and at William & Mary, Jessica Woodward headed in a goal at 89:04.
Amanda Malkiewicz leads the Pirates with 14 points (four goals, six assists) and Jessica Woodward is the only other double-digit point scorer with 11 (three goals, five assists). The East Carolina offense features a balanced attack that has five players with three or more goals.
In net, Christiane Cordero has played all 12 matches, posting a 1.51 goals-against average and 53 saves. The redshirt-freshman recorded her first career shutout against in-state rival N.C. State back on Sept. 10 when she logged a career-best 11 saves.
Memphis (8-3-1, 2-1-1 C-USA) enters Friday's tilt off of a 1-0-1 weekend, where they battled UCF to a 1-1 tie and posted its second win of the C-USA slate with a 2-0 victory over Southern Miss. Alena Strnadova headed in a goal from the left post to give Memphis a 1-0 lead, but UCF rallied late and tied up the match last Friday.
Taylor Isenhower posted her third game-winning strike in the 24th minute and Emmaleigh Davis added a 41st minute goal to help Memphis to a 2-0 victory over Southern Miss. Amanda Olszewski aided on each goal for her first two assists of the season. The Lady Tiger defense held Southern Miss scoreless for the sixth-straight match and extended the Golden Eagles scoreless streak to 455:00.
The Pirates will continue their road swing on Sunday when they travel to Birmingham, Ala. to take on UAB with a 3 p.m. (EST) scheduled start.
