Former Track Athletes Named To Anniversary Team

RICHMOND, Va. --- Three former members of the East Carolina track and field program were recently named to the Colonial Athletic Association Silver Anniversary Team. Michelle Clayton and Danita Roseboro were named to the women's team and Darrick Ingram was selected to the men's squad.
As part of its 25th Anniversary celebration in 2009-10, the CAA is recognizing Silver Anniversary teams in 21 championship sports. A panel of current and former coaches in the conference selects the teams.
Clayton earned Athlete-of-the-Meet honors during the 1999 CAA Championships by winning the discus, hammer throw and shot put. She set the CAA record in the hammer throw during the competition and earned All-America honors in the event. She was also an eight-time All-East performer and two-time East Coast Athletic Conference champion.
Roseboro was a four-time CAA champion, including twice in the 200 meters and once in the 100 meters. The record she established in the 200 meters at the 1993 CAA Championships stood for 14 years. She still owns three ECU track records. She was inducted into the ECU Athletics Hall of Fame during the fall of 2009.
A seven-time CAA champion, Ingram was named Most Outstanding Performer at the 1997 and 2000 championship meet. He was a three-time champion in both the 200 and 400 meters. As a sophomore in 1998 he earned All-America honors in the 200 meters, a year after being named CAA Rookie-of-the-Year. He also achieved All-America status as a member of the 4x400 relay team three times.
ECU claimed its only CAA title in 2000 with the women's squad capturing the team title.
