HOUSTON, Texas - After a Saturday split, East Carolina and Houston will play the decisive third game Sunday at 1:00 p.m. In the Saturday opener, the Pirates (31-15, 10-4 C-USA) picked up their fourth 1-0 victory of the season before the Cougars (25-22, 9-10 C-USA) captured a 4-3 triumph in the second game.

This season, of the Pirates’ 31 wins, 21 have been shutouts.

For the second-straight season, East Carolina has enjoyed its highest-scoring inning in the fifth. This year, the Pirates have scored 40 runs in that frame. In 2009, ECU pushed across a teambest 39 runs in the fifth inning.
Two-Out Magic ...
ECU has scored 194 runs this season, 77 when there are two outs. That amounts to 39.7 percent of the team’s total. Tuesday against UNC Wilmington, the Pirates scored six of their 10 runs in the doubleheader with two down.
