GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's soccer team dropped its second game of the season over the weekend falling to No. 10 Wake Forest, 2-1, at the North Campus Recreation Complex. Junior Kimmy Cummings netted her first goal of the season and fourth of her career in the 76th minute of play when she received a touch pass from Hali Oughton off Trisha Tufts corner kick.
ECU will be back on the pitch this weekend when they travel to Norfolk, Va. to square-off against former Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) foe Old Dominion, before returning home for a Monday (Sept. 6) afternoon match against Niagara.

Pirate Offensive Player-of-the-Week
Kimmy Cummings, MF, Junior
Cummings scored the Pirates lone goal in the second period against No. 10 Wake Forest in a 2-1 loss ... For Cummings it was her first goal of the season and fourth of her career ... The junior from Mechanicsville, Va. received a touch pass from Hali Oughton inside the box off a corner kick from Trisha Tufts to pull the Pirates within one during the 76th minute of the match.
Pirate Defensive Player-of-the-Week
Christiane Cordero, GK, R-Freshman
Cordero recorded her third-straight start in goal against the 10th-ranked Demon Deacons ... She played all 90 minutes in goal surrendering a pair of goals and with four saves ... In three matches she has logged 258 minutes in goal, posting 1.74 goals-against average (GA) with eight saves.
PIRATE NOTES:
Friday Night Lights: For the first time in school history, the Pirates played a home match under the lights when they hosted No. 10 Wake Forest on August 27 ... Since construction of the Olympic Sports Complex will not be completed this season, the Pirates will practice and play all of its home games at the North Campus Recreation Complex ... The new soccer stadium will feature 1,000-seat capacity, including 192 chairback seats, press box and numerous fan amenities.
Streaks Extended: Four Pirates extended their current starting streaks over the weekend ... Junior's Amanda Malkiewicz and Jessica Woodward pushed their consecutive starting streaks to 44 games, while the Preseason All-Conference USA duo of Bailey Wilcox (22 games) and Amanda Broz (12) extended their streaks ... Sophomore Candace Mowery did not play against No. 10 Wake Forest and still has a 13-game starting streak intact.
Unselfish Play: Through three games on the young season, eight different players have recorded points ... Five different Pirates have netted goals (Caty Butler, Cummings, Chrissy Gratz, Amanda Malkiewicz and Wilcox), while three (Jessica Cunningham, Oughton and Amanda Windsor) have dulled out assists.
First Career Starts: Christiane Cordero (GK) and Kimmy Cummings (F) recorded their first career starts in the season opener against UNC Greensboro ... Cordero allowed two goals in 90-minutes of action in the box, while Cummings logged 53 minutes at the forward position.
Collegiate Debuts: Six Pirates have made their collegiate debuts during the 2010 season ... Cordero experienced action in the season opener posting her first collegiate start, while Brittany Batts (MF), Ashley James (F), Katlin Povich (F/MF), Amanda Reynolds (D/MF) and Anne Workman (MF/D) got on the field against Francis Marion.
