
Top Drawer Soccer Recognizes Two Lady Pirates

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Junior Caty Butler and senior Kimmy Cummings have been recognized as two of the top players in Conference USA according to TopDrawerSoccer.com's annual release.
The upperclassmen duo has helped East Carolina to a 5-3-1 overall record through its first nine games, which included a six-game span with out where they posted a 5-0-1 ledger. Butler, who is ranked sixth on the list, leads the team and C-USA in both points (16) and goals (7) - both career-highs. The Boerne, Texas native earned C-USA Offensive Player-of the-Week honors on Aug. 29 after scoring a pair of goals against in-state rival UNC Wilmington in a 2-0 shutout, the first of two multi-goal contests this season.
Cummings, who is No. 16 on the list, has set career-highs in goals (5) and points (12) and ranks fourth and sixth respectively in league action. The Mechanicsville, Va. native recorded her first career hat trick against Old Dominion on Aug. 21 becoming the first player since Meghan McCallion (2004 vs. DePaul) to net three goals in a match.
Memphis posted a league-best five players on the list followed by UCF (four) and Rice (three). Colorado College, SMU, Tulsa, UAB and UTEP each had one representative.
The Pirates will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 2 when they play host No. 6 Memphis at the ECU Soccer Stadium. The matchup, which is scheduled to start at 2 p.m., will be the third home contest for the Pirates against a nationally-ranked opponent.
