
Otteson Tied For 11th At Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Senior Amy Otteson carded a 2-under par 70 (37-33) firing four birdies and 13 pars during the first round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown and is currently tied for 11th place. The three-day, 54-hole event is being held at the par-72, 6,329-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club.
The Pirates (40-3) struggled during the first round of the event posting an 8-over par 296 and are currently sitting in 12th place, 10 strokes out of fourth place. UC Davis leads the field of 16 teams after shooting 11-under par. San Diego State is three strokes back in second followed by Pepperdine in third (-7), UC Irvine and Idaho in fourth (-2) and Oklahoma in sixth (-1).
Faith Hardison is tied for 41st with an opening round of 1-over par 73 (39-34), where she posted five birdies and played the back nine at 2-under par. Freshman Katie Kirk recorded a pair of 1-over par 37 on the front and back nine and is tied for 48th. Rounding out the Pirates line up are Fanny Wolte (42-37) and Julia Strandberg (40-39) who are both tied for 78th.
Pepperdine's Grace Na leads the event after recording an impressive 9-under par 63 and holds a four-stroke advantage over San Diego State's Christine Wong. Sitting in a three-way tie for third at 4-under par are Kayla Mortellaro (Idaho), Amy Simanton (UC Davis) and Bev Vatananugulkit (UC Davis).
Second round action will begin at 10:30 a.m. (ET) with the Pirates teeing off from the 10th hole alongside Colorado State and Nevada.
