Butler Named To N.C. All-State Soccer Team

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina midfielder Caty Butler has been named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State Soccer Team, according to an announcement by the organization earlier this week.
NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the university (NCAA Division I) and college (Division II, III, NAIA, NCCAA) divisions for women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, softball and baseball. More than 650 student-athletes have been recognized on NCCSIA All-State teams since 2003.
Butler, who just completed her junior season with the Pirates, established new career-highs in goals (8), assists (4) and points (20) ranking second on the club and among the Conference USA leaders all three statistical categories. She also netted a pair of game-winning strikes (UNCW and Houston) and earned C-USA Player-of-the-Week honors after scoring both goals in a 2-0 victory over UNC Wilmington inside the ECU Soccer Stadium. Back on Oct. 1, Butler along with fellow upperclassmen Kimmy Cummings, was named one of the Top 20 Players to Watch in C-USA by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
Off the field, Butler was one of four Pirates named to the C-USA All-Academic Team garnering second-team honors. A two-time C-USA Commissioner's and C-USA Academic Medal Winner, Butler boasts a 3.83 cumulative grade point average in exercise sports science.
