GREENVILLE, N.C. -The East Carolina women's soccer team will be back in action tonight when they play host to former Colonial Athletic Association and instate foe UNC Wilmington at the ECU Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m. (ET). The match was originally scheduled for Friday, Aug. 26, but was moved up due to potential inclement weather as Hurricane Irene approaches North Carolina.
The Pirates (1-1) enter the match after splitting a pair of contests opening weekend against nationally-ranked South Carolina (L, 4-0) and Old Dominion (W, 4-1). Senior forward Kimmy Cummings leads the squad with six points, all of which came on her first career hat trick against the Monarchs on Sunday. Junior Caty Butler joins Cummings as the only other Pirate to net a goal on the young season. The Boerne, Texas native scored the equalizer against ODU in the 29th minute of play before a one-hour lightening delay.
Christiane Cordero notched her 10th career win in goal against ODU recording six saves in 80 minutes. The sophomore keeper has started both games, logging 170 minutes where she has allowed five goals and registered eight saves.
UNCW will look to improve on its 1-0 mark after posting a 2-0 shutout against Francis Marion last Friday. Laura Wilson and Amanda Holmes scored for the Seahawks, while keeper Caitlin Hunter made three stops for her third career shutout.
Thursday's matchup will be the 18th between the two former CAA rivals with the Pirates holding an 11-5-1 edge in the all-time series. During the last six meetings, both teams have split and nine of the last 10 matchups have been decided by a single goal. Last year the Seahawks took a hard fought 1-0 victory at the UNCW Soccer Stadium on a second-half goal by Erin Pardini.

Cummings Record Hat Trick
Kimmy Cummings recorded her first career hat trick at Old Dominion (8/21) helping East Carolina to a 4-1 win. With the score knotted at one, Cummings received a through ball from freshman Beth Batchelor in the 41st minute breaking the tie and netting her first career game-winning goal.
In the 66th minute, Cummings was all alone on the right side of the field and booted a ball past the Monarch keeper for a 3-1 lead. Just six minutes later, the senior forward capped off the magical afternoon with her third goal sending a shot to the right of the box past the keeper on another through ball, this time from fellow classmate Amanda Malkiewicz. For Cummings it was her second career multi-goal game and the first ECU hat trick since Meghan McCallion netted three goals against DePaul on Oct. 1, 2004.
