GREENVILLE, N.C. - Two time defending Conference USA Tournament champion East Carolina will host a one-day skills clinic Sunday, Nov. 20 from 12:00-4:00 p.m., according to an announcement by the program Thursday. The session is open to all athletes ages 8-18 and features instruction provided by the Pirate coaching staff and current players.
The clinic will be conducted inside the ECU Softball Stadium, which opened in February and hosted the 2011 C-USA Tournament.
Leading the event will be head coach Tracey Kee, associate head coach Natalie Kozlowski and graduate assistant Cristen Aona. The three were selected as the 2011 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Mideast Region Coaches-of-the-Year. It was the second consecutive regional honor for Kee and Kozlowski and the first for Aona, who played for the two from 2007-10. The trio combined to lead ECU to a pair of NCAA Tournament victories for the second-straight campaign while posting a 41-22 record.
All 17 current Pirates, including 2011 Conference USA Tournament Most Valuable Player Priscilla Velasquez, league second-team honorees Suzanne Riggs and Jill Jelnick and C-USA All-Freshman Team members Jordan Lewis, Kristi Oshiro and Jasmine Robbins, will be assisting at the clinic.
Individuals interested in participating should fill out the attached form and return it to the softball office prior to Nov. 20. For more information, please contact Kozlowski either by phone at (252) 737-1428 or by email at kozlowskin@ecu.edu.
