BOISE, Idaho - East Carolina ended a record-setting indoor campaign late Saturday night as senior Montrell Morrow and the women's 4x400 relay squad challenged the field on the final day of the 2012 NCAA Indoor Championships.
Including junior Tynita Butts' All-America performance Friday night, the Pirates had a total of six athletes compete at the national event, marking a program high. The Florida men captured their third consecutive team championship while the Oregon women also posted their third-straight squad crown.
Morrow, the 2012 Conference USA champion in the weight throw, ended up in 15th place, with a mark of 19.22 meters. Then, Tyshonda Hawkins, Tiffany Harris, Tania Minkins and sophomore All-America Aiesha Goggins clocked in at 3:37.16 to take 12th in the 4x400.
ECU will look to duplicate its indoor success in the outdoor season as the Pirates travel to Winston-Salem for the Wake Forest Open. The event is scheduled for March 16-17 at Kentner Stadium.
