
Katie Kirk Named C-USA Golfer-of-the-Week

IRVING, Texas - East Carolina freshman Katie Kirk was named Conference USA Women's Golfer-of-the-Week after placing fourth and helping the Pirates (93-34) to the tournament titled at the UNCW Seahawk Classic, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.
In her ninth event of the season, the Davidson, N.C. native carded her personal best 1-under par 215 (72-72-71), finishing three shots out of medalist honors to finish in fourth out of 62 participants. The fourth-place finish, also a career-best, marked her fourth top-15 placement of the season and fifth top-25 finish. During the two-day event, she registered nine birdies (t-4th in the field), 38 pars (t-10th) and posted even round 4.00 on par-4 and 2-under par on par-5 holes, both ranking among the tournament leaders.
For the Pirates it was their second tournament crown of the season (Golfweek Program in September) and their sixth top-five finish of the year. It also marked the second-straight year that ECU took home the UNCW Seahawk Classic title.
ECU will be back in action on April 9-10 when it travels to Melbourne, Fla. to participate in the Knights' n Pirates Invitational.
