GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina softball program announced it has cancelled its originally scheduled youth camp sessions, but will still host both a hitting and fielding, and pitching camp Jan. 19-20, at the ECU Softball Stadium. Prices vary for select sessions and registration is open to all girls in grades 8-12.
After the conclusion of camp on Monday, Jan. 20, East Carolina will hold a team practice that is open to the public.
The skill-based camp will be begin Sunday, Jan. 19 with a Future Pirates (grades 8-12) hitting and defensive session from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. On Monday, Jan. 20, which will also the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, a pitching program including activities and drills will run from 8-10 a.m. The second and final Future Pirates session will run from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., and includes lunch.
Participants will receive both pitching and hitting opportunities through instruction from the ECU players and coaching staff. All campers are instructed to bring the following items:
- Glove, cleats, bat, batting helmet and warm clothes
- Catchers need to bring catching equipment (mitt, mask, chest protector and shin guards)
- Pitchers MUST bring their own catcher
