GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina women's soccer player Erika Lenns has been named the American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper-of-the-Week according to an announcement by the league office Monday.
The weekly honor is Lenns' second of the year, as she received the same recognition back on September 29 following a seven-save performance against UConn and a two-save shutout in ECU's first conference victory over Temple.
A Raleigh native, Lenns posted back-to-back shutouts in a pair of American Conference home wins over Houston and SMU last week. She made four saves in a 1-0 victory over the Cougars on Thursday, before stopping four more shots in a 2-0 Senior Day win over the Mustangs on Sunday.
Since taking over the starting goalkeeper job nine games into the 2014 season, Lenns has posted a 5-3 overall record with five shutouts while logging more than 729 minutes in net. She owns a 0.84 goals against average and has made 38 saves for a .844 save percentage.
Senior center back and team captain Kelley Johnson was named to the league's weekly Honor Roll after playing all 180 minutes of the Pirates' two shutouts against Houston and SMU. Johnson capped off the weekend with her first assist of the season, which came on her goal-kick in the 88th minute that led to the team's second score against the Mustangs on Sunday.
East Carolina will make its final road trip of the 2014 campaign with a pair of American Athletic Conference matches at 18th-ranked UCF and USF next weekend. The Pirates will meet the Knights in Orlando, Fla., on Friday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m., before taking on the Bulls in Tampa on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m.
