East Carolina Tied For Third At Jim West Challenge

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - East Carolina fired an opening round 15-over par 303 and currently sits in a three-way tie at the Jim West Challenge. The three-day event, which has been reduced to two days due to potential severe weather in the area Tuesday, is being held at the par-72, 6,234-yard Tapatio Spring Golf Club.
Juniors Nicoline Engstroem Skaug and Frida Gustafsson Spang both posted a 2-over par 74 and are currently tiled for fifth place, while fellow upperclassman Katie Kirk is tied for 12th after a first round 3-over par 75.
Freshman Victoria Allred carded an 8-over 70 in her first team event with the Pirates and is tied for 45th, while fellow first-year golfer Lisa Pettersson is tied for 53rd following her 10-over 82.
Texas A&M jumped out to an early lead, with a team total of 297. Missouri (301) is in second, while Houston (303), Texas Tech (303), and East Carolina (303) are currently tied for third.
Monday will serve as the final day of the event, with weather due to roll in on Tuesday. There will be 36 holes, beginning at 8:00 a.m. Live scoring of the event is available at birdiefire.com.
