KANSAS CITY - East Carolina women's soccer senior defender Kelley Johnson was named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire Division I Women's All-Northeast Region Third Team, according to an announcement by the NSCAA.
The recognition comes after a 2014 campaign that saw the Pirates post a 12-8-1 overall record and reach the semifinals of the American Athletic Conference Championship in their first season of league membership.
Johnson, along with junior forward Kendall Frey, was also named an All-American Athletic Conference Second Team selection at the conclusion of the regular season. The defensive center back and team captain was the anchor of ECU's stout defense that tied the 2007 squad for the most shutouts in a single season in program history with 11.
Dating back to the middle of the 2012 campaign, the Springfield, Va., native started each of the last 55 matches of her career. She appeared in 78 total games and logged more than 5,600 minutes of field time during her four seasons and ranks sixth on the school's all-time list for games played. Johnson was also a Conference USA All-Freshman Team choice during her initial season in 2011.
