GREENVILLE, S.C. - East Carolina freshman Lisa Pettersson carded a final round 3-over 75 to claim her second-straight Top-25 finish of the season at the Lady Paladin Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole event was being held at the par-72, 6,266-yard Furman University Golf Course.
Pettersson, who finished tied for 22nd, posted a final score of 224 (8-over) recording 13 total birdies to rank among the tournament field. During final round action she a 2-over par 38 on the front nine, followed by a 1-over 37.
Junior Nicoline Engstroem Skaug finished two shots behind Petterson with a three-day total of 226 (10-over) for a share of 31st. Fellow upperclassman, senior Katie Kirk, posted a scored of 228 (10-over) finishing tied for 41st, while juniors Frida Gustafsson Spang (232/12-over) and Lane Gakeler (240/24-over) rounded out the Pirates roster tied for 57th and 81st.
Furman's Taylor Totland (209/7-under) captured individual medalist honors followed by Yale's Jennifer Peng (214/2-under) and Wake Forest's Allison Emrey (215/1-under).
The Paladins' three-round total of 860 (4-under) shattered the previous tournament low of 865, set by Wisconsin last season. Furman finished 22 strokes in front of second place Wake Forest (882) with Texas Tech (883), Florida State (889), Yale (892) and Kansas (892) rounding out the top five finishers in the 18-team field. East Carolina finished 10th with a 46-over par 910.
The Pirates (21-9) will be back in action on Monday, Oct. 13 when they play host to the Lady Pirate Invitational, which will be held at Greenville Country Club.
